Nathaniel John Mills

NATHANIEL JOHN MILLS, age 41, of Huntington died on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at his Huntington home with his family by his side.  Nate was born in Marion, Indiana on August 6, 1973 to John and Susan (Rice) Mills.  He graduated from Huntington North High School in 1991.  He married Racquel Bowman on July 15, 2002 in Huntington.  Nate lived to help others and loved being a firefighter.  He joined the Markle Volunteer Fire Department at the age of 19 and was a member of that department in different capacities until 2013.  He was a full time emergency medical technician from 1998 until 2006.  The State of Indiana made him a lifetime honorary EMT as a result of his years helping others.  In 2006 Nate went to work as a full time firefighter for the Fort Wayne Fire Department.  Nate was also a member of the Fort Wayne Professional Firefighters Local 124 and the Indiana Freemasons Amity Lodge 483.  

Survivors include:

His wife, Racquel Mills of Huntington.
His parents, Susan and John Mills of Huntington.
Daughter, Courtney and Kenyon Inks of Huntington.
Son, Austin Gearhart of Huntington.
Grandchildren; Trinity White, Brailey White, Alivia Inks and Landon Inks.
Brother, Tyler and Melanie Mills of Fort Wayne.
Sister, Katalina and Tyler Moser of Poneto, Indiana.

Visitation will be Thursday, March 5, 2015 from 2:00 to 8:00 PM at the Huntington Church of the Nazarene, 1555 Flaxmill Road in Huntington.  Visitation will also be two hours prior to the funeral service on Friday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the church. 

Funeral services will be Friday, March 6, 2015 at 1:00 PM at the Huntington Church of the Nazarene. 

Officiating the funeral service will be Pastor Chad McAtee. 

Preferred memorials may be made to the Nate Mills 707 Memorial Fund in C/O Fort Wayne Fire Department, One East Main Street, Suite 901, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46802 and the Fire and Police Memorial Fund in C/O the Fort Wayne Professional Firefighters Local 124, 1405 Broadway, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46802.
