WALTER WAYNE HOLLOWAY, age 86, died on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at home. Mr. Holloway was born in Lequire, Oklahoma on October 24, 1928 to the late Walter Steven Holloway and Myrtle Ivy (Kitchens) Holloway. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He married Naomi Jean Hawks on September 23, 1951. Walt worked in construction in his younger days and he was employed with Earth Construction and Sorg Construction. Later he became a custodian with Elmhurst High School in Fort Wayne. He spent 19 years at Elmhurst before retiring in 1993. He was a member of the Westview Alliance Church in Fort Wayne where he was active in the past as an elder, trustee and usher. He also pften served meals at the Fort Wayne Rescue Mission. Walt enjoyed woodcarving and fishing, especially fishing vacations to Wisconsin every year. He also was a Boy Scout leader for 10 years.
Survivors include:
His wife of 63 years, Naomi Jean Holloway of Roanoke.
Son, Rick and Patricia Holloway of Fort Wayne.
Two grandsons: Christopher and Amelia Holloway of Fort Wayne; Fletcher Holloway and his fiance, Mary both of Fort Wayne. Three great grandchildren: Madeline, Cecilia and Sophia.
Sister, Clara Hanthorn of Fort Wayne.
He was preceded in death by his son, Stanley Dale Holloway, who died in October 1987; four brothers and six sisters.
Visitation will be Monday, June 8, 2015 from 4:00-8:00pm at Westview Alliance Church, 9804 Illinois Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46804.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at 11:00am at Westview Alliance Church. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the funeral service.
Officiating the funeral service will be Pastor Jason Schlatter and Pastor Wyatt Mullinax.
Entombment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Fort Wayne.
