Wilma Whitman, age 93, of Fort Wayne, went home to be with her Lord and Savior just before midnight on Friday, January 27, 2023 where she was greeted by her husband, Charles and son, Dennis. Mrs. Whitman was born in Decatur, Indiana on July 29, 1929 to the late Leo and Blanche (Moore) Merriman. She graduated from Decatur High School and met her prince, Charles. They were married on July 31, 1948 in Decatur and were blessed with five children. They were married for over 60 years before Charles preceded her in death in 2009. Wilma was employed by Sanitary Diaper Service as office administrator where she worked until retirement. She was an active member of Elmhurst Church of the Nazarene where she was treasurer for more than 50 years. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, sewing, and sitting outside in the sun watching the birds and wildlife. She also made the best deviled eggs and peanut butter fudge. She loved her family deeply and will be greatly missed.

Daughter, Donnita and Danny Mills of Fort Wayne.
Daughter, Deanna and Randall Brumbaugh of Fort Wayne.
Son, Daniel Whitman of Fort Wayne.
Son, Dean and Mary Whitman of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Daughter-in-law, Donna Whitman.
12 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles William Whitman; one son, Dennis Whitman; and a brother, Ralph “Bud” Merriman.
Visitation will be held Thursday, February 9, 2023 from 3:00 – 8:00 PM at Elmhurst Church of the Nazarene, 2951 Sandpoint Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 10, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Elmhurst Church of the Nazarene with visitation an hour prior to the service.
Burial will follow at Decatur Cemetery, Decatur, Indiana.
Memorial donations may be made to Humane Fort Wayne.
