Wallace Eugene Prentice, age 95, of rural Kendallville, passed away Saturday, June 20, 2020 at Parkview Memorial Hospital, Fort Wayne. Mr. Prentice was born near Hudson, Indiana in Steuben County on August 22, 1924 to the late Marvin and Alma (Ewell) Prentice. He graduated from Ashley High School in 1944 and honorably served his country in the United States Army during WWII and the Korean War. He married Ruth Ruby Uhl on January 31, 1953 at Zion Lutheran Church, Corunna. Wally was a truck driver for Seagly Gas, McCray Refrigeration and Weiss Trucking. He was member of the Teamster’s Union #414, Avilla American Legion, Immanuel Lutheran Church, Avilla and the Dekalb County Draft Horse Association.

Wife, Ruth Prentice of Kendallville.
Daughter, Gloria and Gary McDonald of Rome City.
Daughter, Kathleen Dirr of Kendallville.
Daughter, Cynthia Prentice of Ossian.
Daughter, Marsha Gienger of Kendallville.
Four grandchildren: Jeffrey and Kelley McDonald of Albion; Anne Mossman of Rome City; Jason Gienger of Indianapolis; and Jordan Gienger of Auburn.
Two step grandchildren: Gary Lynn and Tuyen McDonald, II of Albion and Patrick McDonald of Syracuse.
Three great grandchildren: Aedyn Mossman, Ahriana Mossman, and Jameson McDonald. Two step great grandchildren, Tina Le and Christian Le.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Peggy Sue Prentice; son-in-law, Gene
L. Dirr, Jr.; one sister, Leona Becker; and two brothers, Ralph Prentice and Neil Prentice.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 24, 2020 from 3:00 – 7:00 PM at Hite Funeral Home, Kendallville.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, June 25, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Avilla with visitation an hour prior to the service. Reverend Patrick Kuhlman will officiate the funeral service.
Burial with military honors will take place at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
