Vongie Strunk

Vongie Lee Strunk, 81, of Kendallville, passed away on Monday, June 10, 2024 at her home. She was born in Garrett, Kentucky on December 14, 1942 to the late Commodore “Sam” and Lula (Sexton) Howard. She moved to the Kendallville area in 1962.  Vongie was employed at Taylor Made Inc. in Kendallville for over 30 years until she retired. She enjoyed going to church and witnessing for the Lord. She also enjoyed working in her flower garden and taking care of her little dog, Lucy, whom she loved dearly.

She is survived by:
Daughter, Della “Angie” (David) Gamble.
Daughter, Teresa Johnson.
Daughter, Wendy (James) Yambrick.
Son, Danny (Deb) Howard.
Son-in-law, Mike Berry.
Daughter-in-law, TalinaTelina Vanderpool.
Sister, Linda Wright.
Sister, Willa Jean Smith
Brother, Ralph Howard.
12 Grandchildren; Jeremy (Amanda) Vanderpool, Jerica Vanderpool, Patricia (Caleb) Parks, Megan (Zane) Scott, Brittany Hammersmith, Robert (Jessica) Christian, Brandon (Karissa) Christian, Chelsey (Asael) Rivira, Amelia Johnson and Erika Yambrick.
18 Great grandchildren and 3 Great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three of her children, James Vanderpool, Tina Berry and Rodney Johnson, a granddaughter, Amber Johnson, sister three sisters, Willa Jean Smith, Linda Wright and Juanita Wilson, and a brother, TL.J. Howard.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 17, 2024, from 12:00 – 2:00 PM at Hite Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM. Burial will take place at Lake View Cemetery in Kendallville.
