Vera (Schmidt) Uhlig, 93, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2018. Born in Fort Wayne to Henry and Clara Schmidt on October 10, 1924, she was a 1942 graduate of Central High School and a long-time member of Concordia Lutheran Church. As a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church for many years, she served as a school librarian, president of the Federation of Lutheran Women and Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. Along with her husband, Richard, she was a charter member of Ascension Lutheran Church. Vera was a devoted wife, mother and servant, and enjoyed her years dancing with the Alley Cats, serving as a judge for the city-wide school flower and vegetable shows, and on the PTL boards for both Holy Cross and Concordia Lutheran High School. She was active in the Fort Wayne Choral Society and her church choirs and had a love for music and singing which she passed on to both of her daughters. She is survived by daughters Laurel (James) Hansen and Holly Enustun, and her grandchildren Luke, Perrin and Shira Hansen and Christian, Brooke and Karsten Enustun. Vera was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, and daughter, Carla. Memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 29, 2018, 2:30 p.m. at Concordia Lutheran Church, 4245 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne, with calling from 1:00pm-2:30pm. Memorial donations may be directed to Concordia Lutheran High School or Concordia Lutheran Church. Arrangements entrusted to Northern Indiana Funeral Care of Fort Wayne.
