Stephen Scheckel

Stephen Martin Scheckel, 73, of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away December 21, 2021, at home.  Born February 22, 1948 in Chicago, Illinois.  He most recently retired from Allen County Surveyor’s Office.  Steve enjoyed golfing, firing at the shooting range, gardening and home projects.  Steve was an avid Chicago Bear and Cubs fan.  He also adored his two dogs Chester and Candy.  Steve served in the Navy and was a Vietnam Veteran.  He was a member of the American Legion-AWX and the Republican Party.

He is survived by his two sons; Joseph Scheckel and Alexander Victor Scheckel (Heather) and grandson Caiden Alexander Scheckel, Sister Cecilia Joyce Steiner, niece Debra Ann Perez (Joe), nephew John Joseph Grant (Cindy), 10 great nieces and nephews and 8 great-great nieces and nephews. He is the son of the late John Joseph and Martha Marie Scheckel.  Also preceded in death by his wife Mary Ann Scheckel, Brother Joseph Ronald Scheckel, great nephew Steve Gomez. 

Memorial gathering is from 12-4pm Saturday January 15, 2022 at the American Legion Post 47, 601 Reed Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46815.  Memorials may be directed to Wounded Warriors or Humane Fort Wayne.
