Robert Avery Obituary

Robert Paul Avery, age 80, of Kendallville, passed away Monday, November 18, 2024, at Parkview Noble Hospital in Kendallville. Mr. Avery was born in Van Wert, Ohio on May 6, 1944, to the late Richard Thomas Avery and Mary Helen (Provci) Avery. He graduated from Brunnerdale Seminary High School, Canton, Ohio and the University of Dayton, Dayton, Ohio. He began teaching at St. Henry Schools in Ohio in 1967 and earned a Master of Education degree from Ball State University, Muncie, Indiana in 1971. Later that year, he married Susan Theresa Beyke on July 3, 1971, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Cranberry Prairie, Ohio.  In 1973, Bob and Sue moved to Kendallville where Bob began his career as an English teacher at East Noble High School. He spent 33 years teaching in the classroom and continued directing plays and coaching spell bowl teams in his retirement. They are members of Blessed Sacrament Parrish in Albion. 

Survivors include:
Wife, Susan Avery of Kendallville.
Daughter, Sarah Avery of Denver, Colorado.
Son, Brendan Avery of Kendallville, Indiana.
Granddaughter, Sullivan Jane Avery.
Sister, Mary Sue McFarland of Indianapolis, Indiana.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Mary Avery; one sister, Jane Avery; one brother, Thomas Avery; and an infant brother. 

Visitation will be held Friday, November 22, 2024, from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville. 
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Albion with visitation at 10:00 AM before the mass.
Burial will take place at a later date in Ohio. 
Donations may be made in Bob's memory to masses or Noble County Humane Shelter.
