Hillard “Ray” Weikel, age 94, passed away Wednesday, November 24th, 2021, at Kendallville Manor with family by his side. Ray was born in Ossian, Indiana to Hershal and Zola (Baker) Weikel on July 12th, 1927. He married Ruth Marie (DeVaux) in Fort Wayne on November 20, 1948. They shared over 70 years together until her passing in 2019. Ray served in the U.S. Navy where he was a 1st Class Fireman on the USS. Maddox from 1946-1947. After retiring from the Navy, Ray was a bricklayer at International Harvester in Fort Wayne for over 30 years.

Daughter, Cynthia Meredith of Englewood, Florida.
Daughter, Anita (Ronald) Witte of Coldwater, Michigan.
Daughter, Janice (Kim) Roberts of Coldwater, Michigan.
Son, Gerald “Gary” (Janet) Weikel of Ossian, Indiana.
Son, Richard “Rick” (Melany) Weikel of Roanoke, Indiana.
Son, Kent (Tina) Weikel of New Haven, Indiana.
16 Grandchildren, and 22 Great Grandchildren
He was proceeded in death by his wife, Ruth Weikel; son-in-law, Richard “Dick” Meredith; 11 siblings and his parents.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 2, 2021 at 12:00 noon at the Marion V. A. Hospital Chapel, 38th Street, Marion, Indiana with visitation at 11:00AM.
Burial with military honors will be at 1:00PM at Marion National Cemetery.
