Phyllis Murray

Phyllis Eileen Murray, 84, passed away January 23, 2024 at her home in Marion. She was born February 4, 1939, in the small town of Gas City, Indiana.  Phyllis is survived by her four children: Jimmy (Christine) Reeves, Renee McMurray, Tracy Reeves, Charles Reeves, Brother, Brett (Sherri) Furnish of Jonesboro and sisters, Margaret Disinger of Marion and Carolyn Hoover of Florida.

8 grandchildren: April Reeves, Jennifer Hopper, Dawn Murray, Shane Murray, Cassandra McMurray, Cordell (Cheyanna) McMurray, Matthew Reeves, and Colton. 7 Great Grandchildren, Corinne (Scott) Meyer, Natalie Staggs, Blayden Staggs, Lillian Wright, Alexander McMurray, Adaline McMurray, and Adam McMurray.

Phyllis worked at Dunkin Donuts in the late 80s and then the Speedway in the early 90s. She loved to bowl and she was in the Thursday morning Coffee League. Phyllis’s hobbies were crochet, playing the board game trouble, doing word search puzzles, playing solitaire, and sitting out on the patio watching the cars drive by, and watching Grimm. 

Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Donald “Pete” Murray; stepson, Donnie Murray; grandson, Matthew Reeves; sisters, Betty Byrd of Marion and Ruthie Murphree of Arkansas; brother Delbert “Bud” Furnish of Marion; and stepmother, Evelyn Furnish of Jonesboro. 

A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 3, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Glad Tidings Family Church, 401 East Highland Avenue, Marion, Indiana 46952.
