Pedro Treviño Villarreal, age 84, of Fort Wayne, died December 16, 2023, at Coventry Meadows Nursing Home in Fort Wayne. Mr. Treviño was born in Sabinas Hidalgo, Nuevo Leon, Mexico on December 4, 1939, to Ruperto Treviño Elizondo and Julia Villarreal Treviño.
He started his career as a tile setter at Art Mosaic, helped create and run Treviño Records, and was the radio host of “La Hora Mexicana” at WGL Radio for many years. He was the “Don Pedro” of Don Pedro Mexican Restaurants in Fort Wayne, owned by him and his brothers, and he later owned/operated Treviño Tile & Terrazzo until he retired. He loved being around people, had a beautiful smile and was passionate about his hometown, Norteño music, dancing, his radio program and being at his ranch in Mexico.
Pedro is survived by his wife, Janice E. (Koch) Treviño and five children including Laura (Michael Baumann) Treviño, Daniel Treviño, Peter (Martha Lopez) Treviño, David (Sara Patalita) Treviño and Kristi (Christopher) Stull. He is survived by six grandchildren Cameron Treviño, Alissa Baumann, Leo Baumann, Benicio Treviño, Aurelia Patalita, and Mikel Stull and siblings: Benito (Armandina) Treviño, Clemente (Yolanda) Treviño, Ruperto (Guadalupe) Treviño Josefina. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Isabel (Paulino) González, Guadalupe Guajardo Treviño, José (Pura) Treviño, Rodolpho and Gilberto. He is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews in Fort Wayne, Texas, Florida, Illinois, Puerto Rico, and Mexico.
The Treviño family will celebrate Pedro’s Life at a future date.
