Pauline Stacy, beloved wife, mother, and grandma, and resident of Rome City, Indiana, passed away on September 16, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family. Pauline was born on December 3, 1953, in Salyers Branch, Hueysville, Kentucky, to Zeak and Zelia (Sexton) Prater. Pauline moved to Indiana with her family in 1963.
She married Charles Stacy on November 15, 1975, in Wawaka, Indiana, and they shared life together with her two daughters, Jackie Allen of Fort Wayne and Arizelia "Sis" Shepherd of Hudson, and her cherished dog, Squeaker.
Pauline’s passions lay in photography, quilting, and exploring the outdoors.
Along with her husband, Charles, and her two daughters, Jackie and Sis, Pauline is survived by her granddaughters, Akasha Bethel of Louisville, Kentucky, Kacey Allen of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Kyla Shepherd of Churubusco Indiana; brothers, Rondal (Deana) Prater of Wawaka, Ron (Twyla) Prater of Sturgis, Michigan, and Bill Prater of Sturgis; sisters, Ruth Shepherd and Irene Houseknecht both of Hillsdale, Michigan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Zeak and Zelia Prater; brothers, Willis Howard, Billy Howard, and Eugene Howard; and sisters, Ruby Schuster, Japelene Bentley, and Erma Shepherd.
Visitation will be held Thursday, September 18, 2025, from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville, Indiana, followed by a graveside service and burial at 1:30 PM at Orange Township Cemetery, near Rome City.
