Paula Creager Obituary

Paula Lydette Creager, 74, of Fremont, Indiana, was called to her eternal home in heaven on Sunday, January 26, 2025. She passed away peacefully at her home with her husband by her side. She married her high school sweetheart, Cecil L. Creager, in 1969. Paula was born in Angola, Indiana on October 27, 1950, the daughter of Charles Wendall and Lydia Dell “Peggy” (Shaull) Neutz.  Paula attended Fremont Elementary and Fremont High School, graduating in 1969.

The family has a passion for music stemming from deep roots and Paula took to playing the trumpet in junior high, continuing as an exceptional horn player who could ad-lib and improv upon hearing just a few notes.  Paula, along with her siblings and other family members, performed at local churches in the tri-state area as the Neutz Family Gospel Group from about 1980 to 2000.  Many enjoyable memories were made during this time.  Whenever family gatherings occurred, one could guarantee fierce games of euchre, and the music would be lively.

Paula worked for Hooks, Revco, and CVS stores for more than 30 years as a store manager and pharmacy technician prior to her retirement in 2008. Paula was a dedicated and long-standing member of Calvary Temple Pentecostal Church of God. She found joy in serving God through her church; she cherished her church family, played the piano during services, taught teen Sunday School, served as a board member and church treasurer, as well as actively participated in the worship team.

Survivors include three children, Michael (Carie Barlett) Creager of Angola, Joseph (Anna Kaiser) Creager of Fremont, and Katlyn (Michael) Beard of Hamilton; six grandchildren, Brook (Micaela) Creager of Angola, Zacchaeus Creager of Angola, Emma Claire and Max Creager of Fremont, and Caylee and Jay Beard of Hamilton; one great-granddaughter, Charlotte Creager; one sister, Carolyn (Hershel) Smith of Fremont; one brother, George (Judy) Neutz of Coldwater, Michigan; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Peggy Neutz, and two sisters, Marilyn June Neutz and Yvonne Dell Alcantra.

A celebration of life will be held at 4pm on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Calvary Temple Pentecostal Church of God, 400 Henry Street, Angola with fellowship and music following. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the Cameron Hospital Foundation Diabetic Fund or the Calvary Temple Pentecostal Church of God.
