Michael Bowsman

Michael Edward Bowsman, age 66, of Hudson, passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2023 at his home. Michael was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana on July 3, 1956 to Edward Ira Bowsman and Beverly Maxine (Syndram) Bowsman. His father preceded him in death. He graduated from Southside High School in 1974 and married Teresa Lynne Fisher on June 7, 1974 in Fort Wayne. Mike was employed by the state of Indiana with the Department of Natural Resources. Mike was a skilled mechanic and metal worker and a heartfelt environmentalist at the same time. He learned to weld at an early age from his dad, and then took those skills with him when he began working for the DNR at Pigeon River Fish and Wildlife Area. When he retired in 2015, Mike began using the land stewardship knowledge he gained from his DNR career to create a Certified Wildlife Area on the family property near Big Turkey Lake. He spent the next 7-1/2 years working with various agencies to establish a wildlife habitat that now includes wetlands, native prairie fields and native wildflowers.

Wife, Teresa Bowsman of Hudson.
Daughter, Sarah Bowsman and grandson, David Bowsman of Waterloo.
Son, Joshua Bowsman of Auburn.
Mother, Beverly Bowsman of Decatur. 

Please join family and friends in a gathering to celebrate Mike’s life on Friday, April 28, 2023 from 3:00-6:00 PM at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville.
Preferred memorials may be made to Pheasants Forever, Acres Land Trust, Stroh Volunteer Fire Dept - Stroh, Indiana, or Salem Center Fire Department - Hudson, Indiana.
