Margaret Louise (Scott) Godsell, age 93, of Kendallville, passed away February 24, 2026, at Orchard Pointe in Kendallville. Mrs. Godsell was born in Allen Township of Noble County, Indiana, on June 25, 1932, to the late Eldon Leo Scott, Sr. and Anna R. (Rice) Scott.
She graduated from Kendallville High School class of 1950. That same year, she married Allen Leroy Godsell on September 2, 1950, in the rectory of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Kendallville. They were married 69 years before Allen passed away on January 18, 2020.
Margaret retired from Eaton Corporation in Kendallville after 18 years as expeditor/dispatcher. After retirement, she and Allen did a lot of traveling across the country and spent 13 winters in Mesa, Arizona. She loved her family and attending her grandkids sporting events. She also enjoyed doing genealogy.
Survivors include:
Daughter, Peggy Ransburg of Kendallville.
Son, Stephen and Deborah Godsell of Traverse City, Michigan.
Seven grandchildren: Michelle (Robert) Abel of Kendallville; Dawn (David) Hodges, Jr., of Nolensville, Tennessee; Shawn (Joy) Landez of Fort Wayne; Tony (Rebekah) Landez of Fishers, Indiana; Stephanie Herkel of Kendallville; Nicki (Doug) Kovach of Demotte, Indiana; and Justina (John) Hlavka of Sutton Bay, Michigan.
21 great grandchildren, six great-great grandsons and one great-great granddaughter.
Brother, Robert Scott of California.
Sisters, Ruth Ulrey and Cecelia (Phil) Schmidt both of Fort Wayne.
Margaret was preceded in death by her grandparents, Riley and Marjorie Rice; parents, Eldon and Anna Scott; her husband, Allen Godsell; one sister, Patricia Sweet; four brothers, Eldon L. Scott, Jr., Thomas Scott, Paul Alan Scott, and John E. Scott.
Visitation and funeral services will both be held Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville. Visitation will begin at 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM officiated by Pastor Mike Albaugh. Burial will take place at Lake View Cemetery in Kendallville.
