Leeanne Sue (Coney) Hackett, age 86, of Adams Lake near Wolcottville, passed away Saturday, November 23, 2024, at home. Mrs. Hackett was born in Kendallville, Indiana on June 1, 1938, to the late Oren Earl Coney and Mildred Dorothy (Shook) Coney. She graduated from Kendallville High School in 1956, and that same year married Michael Dwayne Hackett on June 19, 1956, at Faith United Methodist Church in Kendallville. Leeanne was the secretary for O.E. Coney Pontiac, Buick & GMC and Parker Nivens Cadillac both in Kendallville. She also owned and operated the Shell Mart in Kendallville.
Survivors include:
Husband, Michael Hackett of Adams Lake, Wolcottville.
Daughter, Kim Willits of LaGrange.
Daughter, Susan Jones of Eve Lake, Wolcottville.
Daughter, Lisa Smith of Adams Lake.
Four grandchildren: Amber and Matt Palmer of Wolcottville; Jennifer Willits of Wolcottville; Cameron and Melissa Norris of Fort Wayne; and Jill and Blake Hire of Adams Lake.
Eleven great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Special former son-in-law, Allen Willits of Adams Lake.
Leeanne was preceded in death by her parents, Oren and Mildred Coney; sister, Patricia Barhan; son-in-law, Leo David Jones; and mother-in-law, Virginia Owens.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 27, 2024, from 1:00 - 3:00 PM at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville followed by a funeral service at 3:00 PM officiated by Rev. Ken Weaver. Memorial donations may be made to the family.
