Kenneth L. “Dub,” Zuber, 67, passed away August 3 at the end of a long illness. Born March 14, 1955, to Kenneth V. and Martha J. Zuber in Fort Wayne, he was a graduate of Bishop Luers High School and Ball State University. He spent his career in warehouse management and transportation, working for North American Van Lines early in his career and culminating as manager of the Steel Dynamics Columbia City steel plant in-house warehouse. He was retired from Steel Dynamics.
His family was centrally important to him, and with them he shared his love of live music, auto racing of many kinds, travel and cooking, especially on the charcoal grill. Everyone came to know his pun-filled sense of humor, dad jokes and his penchant for storytelling.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Connie Haas Zuber; son John; daughter Lauren Zuber (Nelson Griggs) and grandson Henry Alan. His mother Martha survives him, along with his brother Kim (Beverly) and sister-in-law Sara, whose husband Mike preceded Ken in death. He has five surviving nieces (four with spouses) and a nephew and 12 great nieces and nephews. His father also preceded him in death.
Ken loved animals, especially our companion dogs and cats, and, in lieu of flowers, donations to Humane Fort Wayne or the Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control Angel Fund would be appreciated.
The Celebration of Life for Kenneth L. Zuber will be from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 21, at the Park Foundation Pavilion in Promenade Park. Welcome and eulogy at 2:15 p.m. with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to Humane Fort Wayne or Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control’s Angel Fund would be appreciated. Free parking is available for Promenade Park on weekends at 301 W.
