Ken Davies Obituary

Kenneth Wayne Davies, age 75, of Kendallville, passed away on Friday, May 17, 2024, at home. Ken was born in Hartford City, Indiana on July 16, 1948, to the late Rev. Kenneth Braleigh Davies and Mary Ethel (Sill) Davies. He graduated from Kendallville High School in 1966, started college at Indiana University, and was drafted into the United States Army. Ken honorably served his country from 1970-1972 during the Vietnam War. He married Emmy Fischer on August 18, 1973, in Kendallville at the St. John Lutheran Church. Ken was employed by Newnam and Dalton Foundry. He loved Newnam Foundry and all the hard-working employees. His journey with the foundry began the summer before college. After serving his beloved country, Ken returned to Newnam's. With his outstanding artistic talent, he was hired as a draftsman. Ken designed the logo for Newnam Foundry. In later years, he was promoted to sales manager and was top in sales. He remained loyal to the foundry for 42 years and 4 buy-outs until it eventually closed. Ken claimed, "He had sand running through his veins." Other interests and talents were centered around art, music, and sports. He was the lead singer in the local band named, "Fifth Dimension." Ken and Emmy were best friends, with a deep love for one another. They were blessed to be together for fifty and a half years. He never missed a sporting event of his children, and he tried to be at all his grandchildren's events. From pep talks before games, to hours of practice with his children at home. His support and guidance were constant with his children and grandchildren in whatever they needed. Papa Ken was always willing to be a taxi service for his grandchildren. He was dearly loved by many friends and family; his quiet demeanor and loving heart has left a proud legacy.
