John Mitchell

John Paul Mitchell, 79, passed away at home surrounded by family on July 29, 2021. Born in Fort Wayne, he was the son of Carl and Agnes Mitchell. He was an Army Veteran. He graduated from Purdue University in 1966 with his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. He spent 55 years in that career doing what he loved, taking care of animals. He also loved being outside on his mower, taking his scooter around the pond to feed his fish, spoiling his cats, and teasing his grandkids. He is survived by his wife Cheryl Mitchell. His brother Ron (Laurie) Mitchell. His children Connie Bennett, Andrew Mitchell, Brian (Amy) Walker, Heather Walker, Jonathan (Elizabeth) Walker, and Jessica Schnepp. As well as 9 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 2 nieces, and 1 great nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents Carl and Agnes Mitchell. Memorial to be scheduled at a later date. Preferred memorials to Humane Fort Wayne (SPCA) 4914 Hanna Street Fort Wayne, IN 46806.
