John Bengs

John Alan Bengs, age 78, of Fort Wayne, passed away on January 29th, 2025, at Georgetown Place in Fort Wayne.  Mr. Bengs was born to Norbert and Linda (Schultz) Bengs on April 29th, 1946, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. John worked as an accountant in the Fort Wayne area, and in the 1980’s and 90’s he owned and operated Three Rivers Software.  He moved to the Indianapolis area where he worked for Clifton Gunderson LLP until retirement. 

John spent much of his free time volunteering for many worthy causes, including churches, Junior Achievement, and Conner Prairie.  He was always very proud of the work he did for these organizations.

John was a diehard Indiana University basketball fan and Cincinnati Reds fan.  Many reading skills were imparted to his two boys via the daily newspaper sports page each morning.
In retirement, John was known to always be generous with his time and resources.  He particularly loved spending time with his grandchildren. 

John is survived by his sister Judi Bengs Tennison; his two sons, Alan (Juliana) and Andrew (Alisa); and his grandkids, Mackenzie, Dashel, A.J., Allie, and Lexi.  John is also survived by his former stepsons, Mike Stetzel and Jeff Stetzel and their families, as well as his former wives Patricia Ansberry (mother of Alan and Andrew) and Pat Bengs. 

On Monday, February 3rd there will be visitation from 6-8 PM at Concordia Lutheran Church, 4245 Lake Avenue in Fort Wayne.
On Tuesday, February 4th there will be visitation at 10:00 AM, also at Concordia followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM.
Memorials may be given to the Allen County Public Library at Home services.
