Edward Hernandez Obituary

EDWARD LEROY HERNANDEZ, born January 17, 1951, in Austin, Texas, passed into the Lord's Service on July 15, 2021.  Edward proudly served in the United States Army and Texas National Guard for 36 years.  He was a member of the Army Pathfinder's Unit and a four-time combat veteran.

Edward is predeceased by his beautiful wife, Gracie and his parents Edward and Sara Gonzales Hernandez.  He is survived by his sister, Yvonne Constant of Kendallville, Indiana; his Goddaughter and niece, Laura Tapp of Maxwell, Texas; sisters-in-law, Mollie (Pete) Urrutia of Maxwell, Texas and Arlene Garza of San Antonio, Texas; many nieces and nephews, one grandchild, Edward Ray Hernandez of DelValle, Texas.  A special place in his heart for his great-niece, Alexa Tapp, nephew James Constant, his first great-niece, Alice Miller and little neighbor Adalynne Seiler-Thompson who loved to wake him up yelling "Eds get up." 

A small gathering and military honors will be held Saturday, July 17, 2021 from 1:00 – 3:00 PM at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville followed by military honors at 3:00 PM.

Burial will take place at the Fort Sam Houston National Veterans Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Road, San Antonio, Texas.
