Donna Thompson

Donna Lynn Thompson, age 57, of Avilla, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 7, 2023 at Dupont Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. Donna was born in Kendallville, Indiana on October 18, 1966 to Douglas McArthur Ritchie and Evelyn (Shepherd) Ritchie Long. She graduated from Garrett High School and Ivy Tech, Fort Wayne with a nursing degree. Donna was a registered nurse and employed by Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne for more than 30 years. She married Johnny Wayne Thompson on July 19, 1992 in Kendallville. She loved her boys and her family. She was an active member of Harbor of Love Baptist Church near Kendallville where she taught Sunday school and junior church. She also loved craft making. Donna was loved by her family and many friends, and she will be greatly missed.

Husband, Johnny Thompson of Avilla.
Son, Gabriel Thompson of Avilla.
Son, Jonathan and Kiersten Thompson of Albion.
Son, Lucas and Ashlie Thompson of Kendallville.
Son, Bobby Thompson of Butler.
One grandson, McArthur David Thompson.
Mother and stepfather, Evelyn and Terry Long of Albion.
Brother, Doug and Sue Ritchie of Kalamazoo, Michigan.
Sister, Laura and Harry Gamble of Avilla.
She was preceded in death by her father, Douglas Ritchie. 

Visitation will be held Sunday, December 10, 2023 from 3:00 – 6:00 PM at Harbor of Love Baptist Church near Kendallville followed by a 6:00 PM service.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 11, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Harbor of Love Baptist Church with Pastor Charles Mosley officiating.
Burial will follow at Orange Cemetery near Rome City.
