Don Wakeland

Donald “Don” Wakeland, 96, was called to his home far away with Jesus on Wednesday, January 20, 2021. He was born in Carroll County, IN on October 10, 1924. Don was a longtime member of Waynedale Baptist Church in Fort Wayne, IN. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean War era. Prior to retirement, he worked as a custodian for Fort Wayne Community Schools. He was a masterful carpenter, crafting many custom projects for his home throughout the years. Don loved antique cars, especially Ford Mustangs. He is preceded in death by his infant daughter and survived by his wife Lydia L. Wakeland of 39 years, and two children; son, Gary Wakeland of Fort Wayne, IN, and daughter Denise (Jim) Martin of Angola, IN as well as four grandsons, and many great-grandchildren from his first marriage. 

A memorial service to celebrate Don's life and home going will be held at 11am Thursday, January 28 at Waynedale Baptist Church, 633 Lower Huntington Rd, Fort Wayne, IN 46819 with visition one hour prior to the service.
