Charlene Kay Volkert, age 77, of Harlan, Indiana, passed away September 11, 2024, at home. Mrs. Volkert was born in Hicksville, Ohio on August 9, 1947, to the late William Carlile Timbrook and Myra Rosella (Chester) Timbrook.
She was a Honorary Life member and a Past 4th District President for 41 years of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 409 Leo. She was a 40 & 8 member of Au Courant 176 Salon for 37 years.
Survivors include:
Husband, Allan Duane Volkert of Harlan.
Son, Tim and Jennifer Pickering of Grabill.
Grandson, Devin Pickering of Grabill.
Stepdaughter, Kelly and Eric Bell of Fort Wayne.
Step granddaughters, Makenzie and Robert Ott of Goshen and Madison and Conner VanOoyen of Indianapolis.
She was preceded in death by four sisters and one brother.
Visitation will be held Sunday, September 15, 2024, from 1:00 - 4:00 PM at North Scipio Christian Church, 23627 State Road 37, Harlan, Indiana.
Funeral services will be held Monday, September 16, 2024, at 11:00 AM at North Scipio Christian Church with Pastor Ken Herb officiating.
Burial will follow at Scipio Cemetery, Harlan.
Memorial donations may be made to North Scipio Christian Church.
