Beverly (Hirsch) Scheiwe, 87, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, November 6, 2023 at Heritage Point of Fort Wayne. Born August 12, 1936 to the late Abraham and Margaret (Freeman) DeWitt, she worked many years at Grabill Grain and Midwest Tile and Concrete as a bookkeeper. Bev married Richard Hirsch in 1955 and he preceded her in death in 2005. She then married Ralph Scheiwe on August 30, 2008; and they shared 15 years of life together. Bev was an avid music lover and played the accordion in a band called The Music Makers, called square dances, played piano and organ and directed the choir at Zion Lutheran Church at Bull Rapids, and the Good News Singers at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. Bev loved spending time with her family, watching grandkid’s sporting events and golfing.
She is survived by her husband Ralph Scheiwe of Fort Wayne; brother, Dwight Dewitt, daughters, Connie (Jim) Thompson of Harlan, Vicki (Mitch) Thompson of Harlan, Jackie (Brad) Kees of Fort Wayne, and Holly (Todd) Fisher of Fishers; and nine grandchildren, Tracy (Mike) Hanlin, Angela (Bryan) Kelley, Alison (Jake) Moore, Lauren (Robert) Hixson, Luke (Hannah) Thompson, Maria (Jeremy) Thom, Ashley Kees, Nicholas Fisher, Kelly Fisher; and 14 great grandchildren, Karson, Mason, Kinsley, Mallory, Cade, Gus, Abe, Annabeth, Owen, Clara, Lena, Warner, Eli, and Brooklyn.
Service is 10 a.m. Friday November 17, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 7710 E. State Blvd., Fort Wayne with calling one hour before service. Calling also from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, November 16 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. Burial at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Woodburn. Preferred memorials to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and WBCL Christian Radio.
