Betty Ann (Schurr) Jones, age 87, passed away on Friday, July 24, 2020 at her home in Kendallville, Indiana surrounded by her family. She was born on August 20, 1932 in Wheeling, West Virginia and was adopted by Carl and Martha Schurr of West Liberty, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, George Schurr. On June 20, 1952, she married James Wesley “Jim” Jones who preceded her in death. Betty was a devoted member of the First Christian Church in Kendallville and former member of First Church of God in West Liberty, Ohio. She belonged to the Wednesday Morning Bible Study Group, Weekly Prayer Group, Cole Center YMCA Swim Group, The Red Hat Society, Order of the Eastern Star, Noble County Master Gardeners and Women’s Mentoring Program. She taught classes on herbs through the Noble County Parks and Recreation Department and was instrumental in establishing our local Herb Garden at Bixler Lake. Betty was also a cook for many years at the historical McCray Mansion Bed & Breakfast.
Survivors include:
Son, Skip Jones of Kendallville, Indiana.
Son, Todd and Cathy Jones of Lexington, Michigan.
Daughter and son-in-law, Janel and Tim Lemond of Ripon, Wisconsin.
10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Services will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2020 at the First Christian Church, 110 West Waits Road, Kendallville, Indiana.
Visitation will be from 3:00 – 6:00 PM immediately followed by a funeral service at 6:00 PM.
A private family burial will be on Friday, July 31, 2020 in Rochester, Michigan where she will be laid to rest beside her husband, Jim, of 49 years. Memorial donations may be made to Parkview Noble Hospice.
Per Indiana Governor’s mandate, masks are required for all services and social distancing will be maintained during all visitation and services.
