Barbara (Black) Sickles

Barbara O. (Black) Sickles, 91, a lifetime resident of Fort Wayne, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 12, 2022.  Born to Miriam and Dwight Black on April 28th, 1930, Barb was a generous woman who loved her family, her dog, Oscar, and her community.  She graduated from Central High School and Ravenscroft Beauty College where she later taught.  She spent her professional years as an independent hair dresser servicing many clients including doing hair for McCombs Funeral Home for over 40 years.  When not working, Barb enjoyed cooking, caring for her family and spending time at the lake where she became an avid fisherwoman.

A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Barb is survived by her husband of more than 68 years, Douglas Sickles of Fort Wayne; her daughter, Jenny (Sickles) Freda of Denver, CO and grandchildren TJ, Jane, Kate and Joe; her son, Alan Sickles, wife Marisa, and grandchildren Jenifer, Austin and Alexis of Fort Wayne; and her brother, Harold Black, wife Barbara, of Fort Wayne. Memorial services will be held at a later date.
