John A. Myers, age 76, passed away Saturday, December 21st at home surrounded by family, after a long hard battle with cancer. John was born December 21st, 1943 to the late James and Ruth Myers. He grew up in Gas City, Indiana and attended Mississinewa High School. Later he moved near Van Buren where he resided for the last 20 years. On March 17th, 1973 he married Dana Cochran, the love of his life. They loved to play golf and traveled extensively. John worked at RCA/Thomson Consumer in Marion for 38 years before retiring. He was also a proud Marine who served in Vietnam. Spending time with his great grandson and little pal, Eli Myers, was one of his biggest joys.
He is survived by sons Andy Myers, Van Buren; Trev Myers, Gas City; Grandchildren: Keith (Baylee) Myers, Jonesboro; Tristan Myers, Van Buren; Ashley Myers, Marion; Morgan (Curtis) Jones, Marion; Josh Kierstead, Marion; and Haley Myers, Marion. Great grandchildren: Eli, Kynslee, Jonathan, Olivia, Brayleigh, and Blakeleigh. Brothers, Jim (Judy) Myers,Gas City; Phil( Faye) Atkinson, Florida. Sisters in law, Peg Myers and Janet Myers. Along with several nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Angie Cook. Also brothers Dick Myers, Jerry Myers, Michael Myers, sisters Anna Stone and Madeline Buroff.
Johns wishes are to be cremated, with no services. He will be buried at the Marion National Cemetery with military honors at a later date.
