Donald Eugene Smith

Donald Eugene Smith, age 83, of Fort Wayne, passed away Friday, December 27, 2019 at the Hospice Home, Fort Wayne.  Mr. Smith was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana on April 12, 1936 to the late Raymond Glenn Smith and Violet Merle (Wearda) Smith.  He married Connie Sue Cramer on November 9, 1957 in Fort Wayne.  He honorably served his country in the United States Army on active duty for 12 years and in the Army Reserves for another 20 years.  Don was a police officer with the City of Fort Wayne Police Department for 27 years before retiring in 1987.  

Survivors include:
Wife: Connie Smith of Fort Wayne.
Son, Richard Smith and Bonnie Berger of Fort Wayne.
Daughter, Laura and Kerry Dager of Leo.
Son, Darren Smith of Fort Wayne.
Four grandchildren: Tara Smith of Fort Wayne; Jason Smith of Fort Wayne; Kimberly Nichols of Fishers and Leslie Dager of Fort Wayne and six great grandchildren.
Brother, Robert Smith of Coldwater, Michigan.
Brother, Jack and Jan Smith of Peoria, Arizona.
Brother, Terry Smith of Columbia City.
His beloved canine, Sophie.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jerry Smith and Edward Smith.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 2, 2020 at 1:00 PM at Greenlawn Funeral Home in Fort Wayne with visitation prior to the service from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM. 
Burial with military honors will take place at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Arrangements entrusted to Northern Indiana Funeral Care of Fort Wayne.
