THOMAS E. CHILDERS, age 84, of LaGrange died on Saturday, May 29, 2010 at Miller's Merry Manor, LaGrange, Indiana.
Mr. Childers was born in Herrin, Illinois on October 28, 1925 to the late Milton C. and Maude (Wyatt) Childers.
He served his country in the United States Navy during WWII from 1943 to 1946 and received the Victory medal and the Asiatic-Pacific medal.
He was a member of the V.F.W. Post #2749 of Kendallville, the American Legion Post #381of Rome City,
Moose Lodge #1271of Leesburg, Florida, the Mizpah Shrine, Wayne Lodge #25, Fort Wayne, and the
Eagles Lodge of Fort Wayne.
He was a restaurant and hotel manager.
Survivors include:
Son, Bruce and Margaret Childers of Marion, Illinois.
Daughter, Cindy Marks of Marion, Illinois.
Three grandchildren: Megan, Courtney and Malerie.
Brother, Marshal Childers of California.
Sister, Peggy Fossi of Herrin, Illinois.
Sister, Jeanie and Herman Clavanna of Herrin.
Three nieces and one nephew.
He was also preceded in death by his brother, Milton Childers and sisters, Margaret Ann and Mavis.
Memorial services and burial with military honors will be Friday, June 18, 2010 at 11:00am at Marion National Cemetery in Marion, Indiana.
