Paul W. Wendelin passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 12th at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home in Ft. Wayne surrounded by his family. Beloved brother, uncle, and great-uncle, Paul was the youngest of 3 children, born to Andrew and Adele (Dierker) Wendelin on April 28, 1930 in Chicago. Paul was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Ft. Wayne for 71 years and served his Lord in many capacities. A graduate of Central High School, he was a sales associate for Patterson Fletcher and later, a maintenance engineer at St Joe and Parkview Hospitals. He served in the U.S. Naval Reserve, 26 years’ service, ET2 Electronics Technician, 2nd Class. He also worked as a Great Lakes Mariner hauling iron ore. Besides being an avid angler and boater, Paul’s greatest passion was classical music and playing the piano. He is well remembered for his baritone voice while singing with the Bach Collegium. His strong faith in his Lord Jesus was an inspiration to all.
He is survived by his brother, the Rev. Robert A. Wendelin and is preceded in death by his sister Audrey (Wendelin) Leinhos and his parents. He has a loving supportive family with 8 nephews and 2 nieces.
Visitation will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 202 W Rudisill Blvd in Fort Wayne on Friday, May 20, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and Saturday, May 21 from 10:00 – 11:00 AM.
Funeral services will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 202 W Rudisill Blvd in Fort Wayne, on Saturday, May 21 at 11:00 AM with visitation one hour preceding the service.
Interment will be at Concordia Gardens Cemetery immediately following the service.
Memorials should be designated to Redeemer Lutheran Church and/or Bach Collegium-Fort Wayne, 202 W. Rudisill Boulevard, Fort Wayne, IN 46807.
