Jim Richard Sorlie

James (Jim) Richard Sorlie, 84, of Fort Wayne passed away Thursday, October 13, 2016, at home.  Mr. Sorlie was born May 22, 1932, to the late Vernon and Rose (Snell) Sorlie in Hoagland.  He graduated from Ossian High School in 1950 and served honorably with the United States Air Force between 11/1951 – 10/1955.  During his campaign, he helped aid in the Korean War conflict and was stationed in France for over two years.  On 6/21/1958, he married the love of his life, Barbara (Bobbie) Farley in North Manchester, IN.  Jim worked at International Harvester for 32 years in various positions, one of the last being in sheet metal repair.  After retirement from IH, he worked at Vee Engineering, Steelcrete Swimming Pool Supplier, and Fort Wayne Christian/Keystone Schools--where he was able to pour his infectious Godly & caring attitude into so many students and adults.  He is a member of Fellowship Missionary Church, loved his family deeply, and thrived on spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Bobbie.  Daughters Diane (Mark) Linville and Darlene Saxton, both of Fort Wayne.  Grandchildren Angela (Scott) Sherbahn, Isaac Saxton, Joshua Saxton, Alyssa Linville, Joel Saxton, Jeremiah Saxton, Jonathan Saxton, and Rachel Saxton—all of Fort Wayne.  Great-grandchildren Lucas, Lyla, and Lily Sherbahn.  Sister, Patricia (Pat) Heckley, and brother, Jerald (Jerry) Sorlie.  He was preceded in death by his parents and also his brother, Jack Sorlie. 

Visitation will be held on Monday, 10/17/16, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Fellowship Missionary Church, 2536 East Tillman Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46816.  
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2016, at 10:30 a.m., with calling an hour prior, also at Fellowship Missionary Church.  
Burial will take place at Oaklawn Cemetery in Ossian, IN. Officiating the funeral services will be Pastor David DeSelm.  
Memorial donations may be directed to Fellowship Missionary Church.
