Herbert “Herb” Hinsenkamp, age 94, of Fort Wayne, passed away on September 29, 2016 at Woodview Nursing Home surrounded by his family. Herb was born on September 04, 1922 in West Bend, Wisconsin to the late Frank and Clara (Hacker) Hinsenkamp. Before joining the United States Navy on September 12, 1942, he graduated from West Bend High School. During WWII he served with Motor Torpedo Boat Squadron 35 during the European – African Middle Eastern Campaign.  While stationed at Norman, Oklahoma Herb met his wife of 70 years, Marie “Jane” Hinsenkamp (Miller) and they were married on December 29, 1945. Herb continued to serve his country after being discharged from the Navy in 1947 as an Army Medical Corps Officer with the Indiana Army National Guard from 1949 to 1962.  For over 40 years, Herb lead the laboratory at Fort Wayne Methodist Hospital and subsequently Parkview Memorial Hospital in Fort Wayne. He was an avid golfer, card player, andwoodworker, and especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at the family Jimmerson Lake home. Herb was a 4th Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus, a lifetime member of American Legion Post #47 in Fort Wayne, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Past President of the Indiana Medical Technologists Association, and a lifelong member of St. Jude Catholic Church in Fort Wayne. Herb was preceded in death by his parents, brother (Raymond), sister (Mary Jane Blumenberg) and his loving wife Jane.

Survivors include two sons, James R. (Mary) Hinsenkamp of Fort Wayne and Ronald M. (Susan) Hinsenkamp of Terre Haute; daughter, Mary Anne (David) Beneke of Fort Wayne; 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; brother-in- law, Wes Blumenberg of Port Washington, Wisconsin; and several nieces and nephews.
 
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 3, 2016, at 11:00 AM,
with calling two hours prior to Mass, at St. Jude’s Catholic Church, 2155 Randallia
Drive, Fort Wayne. Fr. Jake Runyon and Fr. Robert D’Souza will concelebrate.
Burial will be at Fort Wayne Catholic Cemetery.
Memorial gifts may be made to Knights of Columbus Council #451, Parkview Hospital Foundation, St. Jude’s Catholic Church, or the donor’s choice. The family would like to thank Parkview Hospice and the incredible staff of caring professionals at Woodview.
