Donna T. (Imel) Deaton

Donna T. Deaton, age 87, of Fort Wayne, passed away on November 20, 2017 at Heritage Park Retirement Home in Fort Wayne.  Mrs. Deaton was born on October 20, 1930  in Geneva, Indiana to the late Ora A. and Agnes (Boice) Imel.  In 1948, Donna graduated from Elmhurst High School.  She continued her education at Olivet Nazarene University.  On August 7, 1954, she married M. LaMarr Deaton at Southside Church of the Nazarene in Fort Wayne.  She retired from Lutheran Hospital in patient information in 2010.  Donna and her husband are members of Grace Point Church of the Nazarene.  Donna belonged to the YMCA and Home Builder's Association in Fort Wayne.  She loved singing and playing the piano.  Together she and her sister Marlene, sang on a Christian radio station and at church.  She was a phenomenal cook.  Donna loved watching Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, and making shopping trips to J.C. Pennys.

Daughter, Jennifer L. (Peter Janzen) Deaton of New Haven.
Son-in-law, Kenneth Atkins of Indianapolis.
Granddaughter, Adrienne Atkins of Indianapolis.
Granddaughter, Alissa (Johnathan) Miller of Fort Wayne.
Granddaughter, Kayla Deaton of Fort Wayne.
Granddaughter, Katharina Janzen of New Haven.
Sister, Marlene (Donald) Durick of Fort Wayne.
Brother, Kenneth (Nadine) Imel of Fort Wayne.
Brother, Richard Imel of Fort Wayne.
Brother, Ronald (Connie) Imel of Fort Wayne.
Sister-in-law, Sue Imel of Fort Wayne.

Donna was also preceded in death by her son; John Mark Deaton, daughter; Susan M. Atkins, sister-in-law; Judy Imel, and nephew; Steven Imel.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 24, 2017 from 3:00pm-7:00pm at Grace Point Church of the Nazarene, 8611 Mayhew Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46835.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 11:00am at Grace Point Church of the Nazarene.  
Burial will be conducted at 2:30pm following the funeral service at Greenlawn Cemetery in Fort Wayne.
Officiating the services will be Pastor Rex Person.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Grace Point Church of the Nazarene or the Alzheimer's Association.
