David E. Harris

DAVID E. HARRIS, age 58, of Fort Wayne, died on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at home.  Mr. Harris was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana on February 9, 1956 to the late Marion Eugene Harris and Ethel Marie (Ernest) Harris.  He graduated from Columbia City High School in 1974 and served his country in the United States Navy.  He married Frances Gloria (Brooks) Byrd on February 12, 1994 and he worked in the healthcare industry as a certified nursing assistant and as a qualified medical assistant.  David loved playing his guitar, woodworking, fishing and spending time with his family.  He was a member of the American Legion Post 499 in Fort Wayne.

Survivors include: 
Wife, Frances Harris of Fort Wayne.
Son, Michael and Jerranda Harris, United States Air Force, stationed in South Korea.
Grandson, Nicholas Harris.
Step daughter, Mary Byrd of Fort Wayne.
Step daughter, Erin Byrd and her companion, David Brown of Fort Wayne.
Step daughter, Holly Byrd and her companion, Anthony Brewer of Fort Wayne.
Step son, Matthew and Shai Byrd of Fort Wayne.
10 step grandchildren.
Sister, Sarah and Clifford Creason of Columbia City.
Sister, Sandra and Leon Kowalenko of Fort Wayne.
Sister, Constance and Benjamin Lew of Houston, Texas.
Brother, Michael and Susan Harris of Laotto.
Many nieces and nephews.

Visitation and funeral services will be Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Saint Paul Lutheran Church, 1126 Barr Street, in Fort Wayne, Indiana.  Visitation will be from 11:00am-1:00pm with the funeral service beginning at 1:00pm. 

Officiating the funeral service will be the Reverend Peter F. Gregory.

Burial will be at Concordia Cemetery Gardens in Fort Wayne.

Preferred memorials may be made to American Cancer Association or Allen County SPCA, 4914 South Hanna Street, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46806.
